As you can see, a manual transmission is nothing to fool with by yourself, or without expert knowledge in mechanics.
It is best to have the transmission serviced by a qualified technician, or dealer.  In some cases, it will be cheaper to
replace the transmission with a rebuilt unit, or used unit, rather than reparing it.

Overhauling the transmission requires the disassembly, and reassembly of many small parts.  Numerous clearances must be precisely measured, and if necessary, changed with select fitted spacers and other replacement parts.

As statated, time and costs to rebuild is almost assured to exceed that of a rebuilt, or knowingly working used replacement.
